JESUS AS A ROLE MODEL IN SOCIETY: (The Beatitudes continued) “Blessed are those who hunger & thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.” We all long for a more just world. Righteousness in the Hebrew Scriptures does indeed mean justice. But it means much more than that. It means the whole plan of God to save His people, a plan which includes of course, the establishment of a just world. When Jesus declares to be blessed “those who hunger & thirst for righteousness,” He means, blessed are those who enlist themselves in the service of God’s design. The world is more inclined to enlist God in the service of our own designs & objectives. However, Jesus’ prayer was, “Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done.” PRAYERS FOR DIOCESAN COMMUNITY: We pray for people & clergy of St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Newcastle. May they continue to grow in faith & holiness in all they say & do. LILIES: Kindly return them to the Church by Palm Sunday, April 5 so they can be shared with our community ST VINCENT DE PAUL Continue to use the green envelope in your donation box. The Apostle’s Creed is so called because it is rightly considered to be a faithful summary of the Apostle’s faith. The Nicene Creed draws great authority from the fact it stems from the Council of Nicea.
