Canadians should seek to be witnesses to Christ in Canada and the world, and to continue working to influence those in government to act from Christian principles and attitudes. We should continue to work for justice and peace in Canada and throughout the world, so that all God’s people may share in the goods of this earth. God’s Kingdom will come only when all people are ready to let Christ’s teaching guide and rule their lives and actions. Consider today and always what special thing you do to bring peace to others. NOTE: The parish office will be closed on Wednesday, July 1 in celebration of the holiday. REST IN PEACE: The parish family of St Anne’s would like to offer our prayers and sympathy to the family of: George Wright – husband of Jackie of this parish Dorothy Kennedy of this parish Tilmon Gallant of this parish May They Rest In Peace EXPLANATION OF THE PARTS OF THE EUCHARISTIC CELEBRATION A weekly continuation for your information LITURGY OF THE EUCHARIST Communion: At this point of the Mass, we have the opportunity to be in special union with Christ. Communion implies union. Communion should not be rushed, nor is it to be dragged out. Communion should be done in a prayerful way. Under the species of bread & wine, we may receive the sacred blood by drinking from the chalice. In the past, three other methods were allowed to receive the sacred blood. They were: a) Intinction – dipping the host in the chalice b) Sipping through a gold or silver straw c) Breaking up the hosts & placing them in the chalice, distributing the body and blood using a silver/gold spoon. These methods are no longer encouraged. The Priest, Deacon or Eucharistic Minister proclaims the Body or Blood of Christ depending which species they are distributing. The communicant responds by proclaiming Amen which is Latin for “So be it.” This means we are saying to the Lord, come into my life & change me, help me to become more like You. The communicant returns to their pew & prays in thanksgiving for the gift of Jesus & the nourishment He left us at the last supper. It is interesting to note that at this time there is a special communion or union with the community that has gathered because all are praying in thanksgiving for the same gift. NOTICE: Beginning June 29 the Tuesday mass will be at 9:00 a.m. & the Wednesday Mass will be changed to 5:30 p.m. These changes will remain in effect until September. Father Garry Leahy will be helping us with the 9:00 a.m. Mass on Monday & Tuesday throughout July. Please welcome him.
