DEVELOPMENT & PEACE SHARE LENT WORKSHOP: “I Believe – I Give” - The economic crisis is hitting us hard, but it hits the poorest in our world the hardest. All parishioners interested in helping with the annual D & P Share Lent campaign are invited to a workshop on Sat. Jan 31 at St Alphonsus from 9 to 12 followed by a solidarity lunch with presentation by D & P Animator Luke Stocking on the work D & P supports in Zambia where he visited this past summer EXPLANATION OF THE PARTS OF THE EUCHARISTIC CELEBRATION A weekly continuation for your information LITURGY OF INTRODUCTION: Penitential Rite: There are 3 options for the Penitential Rite. A sprinkling of Holy Water, a Communal Act of claiming ownership of sin (“I confess to Almighty God..”), or Three Statements of Sinfulness, ending with “Lord Have Mercy, Christ Have Mercy.” The Penitential Rite provides an opportunity to reflect not only on our individual & communal sinfulness, but on the fact that we do not deserve God’s love. Yet God still loves us & we are moved to give God praise & glory. MASS WITH THE SACRAMENT OF THE SICK: We are having a Mass on Saturday, Feb 14 at 10:00 a.m. If you are in need of the Sacrament of the Sick or you are aware of anyone that is in need, please invite them and plan to attend. Fr Bill apologizes for disappointing those who looked forward to see him come down the hill. He spoke to God while driving out to the hill and quoted Samuel: “Speak Lord, your servant is listening.” The Lord told Fr Bill to wait for next year. Fr Bill promises to go down the hill next year. To all those girls & boys who tried to run into Fr Bill – He suggests they go to the Sacrament of Reconciliation but they would be better off asking another priest for forgiveness. Especially those who were successful. SACRED SCRIPTURE READING: On the first Sunday of each month, the Cathedral of St Peter-in-Chains offers an hour of Lectio Divina with Solemn Vespers from 7 to 8 pm. Lectio Divina is the “diligent reading of Sacred Scripture accompanied by prayer” (Dei Verbum 25). Please join us on Sun. Feb 1 as Fr Ray Rick helps us meditate upon Romans 6:3-11. ST ANNE’S KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS continues with its charitable endeavors. We wish to thank all parishioners for making the “It’s OK To Wish Me A Merry Christmas” pin campaign a success. Through the efforts of the Knights & your generosity, we were able to make a $1,000 donation to the Priest’s Pension Fund. As well, through the leadership of Mike Condon, the Annual Blood Donor Clinic was able to support the Canadian Red Cross with 79 pints of blood being donated. Another great success. Your St Anne’s Knights of Columbus are very active in the community & the Parish & we do wonderful, charitable work.
