EXPLANATION OF THE PARTS OF THE EUCHARISTIC CELEBRATION A weekly continuation for your information LITURGY OF INTRODUCTION: Gloria: As followers of Jesus we are called to give praise and glory God. In the Eucharist, the Gloria flows out of the Penitential Rite. The spiritual logic is that the Penitential Rite increases our awareness of sinfulness. Coupled with the reality that God still loves us, we are moved to give praise and glory to God for His great love. This prayer is not proclaimed throughout Advent and Lent due to the seasonal focus of Reconciliation. When we finally share the Gloria again at Christmas time and Easter, our joy of sharing the Gloria should be increased.
