This is the only way we have of knowing if a parishioner is in hospital. EXPLANATION OF THE PARTS OF THE EUCHARISTIC CELEBRATION - The Eucharist is one of the greatest gifts Jesus gave us. The Mass is rich in symbolism & deep in spirituality. For many cradle Catholics, we take the Eucharist for granted & fail to appreciate this richness & the depth of this sacramental gift. Often times we do things in the Mass because, that’s just what we do. Possibly, no one has explained certain aspects of the Eucharist to us; or maybe we have forgotten such explanations. Over the next 9-10 months the hope is to outline each week, one of the numerous parts of the Mass. Needless to say, this exercise cannot cover everything. Yet with the grace of God, love for the Eucharist will grow & mature. Basically, there are four major sections to the Eucharist: A) Liturgy of Introduction B) Liturgy of the Word C) Liturgy of the Eucharist D) Liturgy of Conclusion The Sunday Eucharist does not really begin with the Opening Hymn. It should begin earlier in the week, with praying the scriptures for that weekend. As the farmer prepares the soil to receive the seed, we prepare our minds, hearts & souls to receive the Word of God. How we encounter each other is extremely critical. A greeting sets up an encounter. For instance; if we met someone & said “I’ve been looking for you. Where is that money you owe me?” is far different than; “it’s great to see you! What’s it been, 10 years? You look fantastic!” Therefore the way we meet one another on the sidewalk or in the parking lot is important. We are to greet one another as sisters & brothers in the Lord. Coming to Eucharist is in many ways a sacramental family reunion. We gather as the People of God; the Family of God to feast & celebrate our oneness with God & our oneness with one another in God. BULLETIN ON LINE: If anyone is interested in getting the bulletin on line, call the office 745-3229 & let us know & we will save on paper by cutting back on the number printed each week.
