THE ASSUMPTION – SAT. AUG. 15 The Assumption of Mary celebrates her being “assumed” (taken up body & soul) into heaven at the end of her earthly life. It began as a feast day in the Eastern Church after the Council of Ephesus (431) proclaimed Mary the Mother of God. In declaring the doctrine of the Assumption (1950), the Church proclaims & celebrates that in Mary there was no obstacle to deny her immediate passing through death & becoming the first, after her Son, Jesus to be raised body and soul to fullness of life with God. ICE CREAM SUNDAY: Our next Ice Cream Sunday will be Sunday, September 6 (Labour Day Weekend) after the 9:00 & 11:00 Masses. Thank you to all who helped with distributing the ice cream. It was fun and enjoyable for all. Anyone who would like to volunteer to help in September can call the office 745- 3229. EXPLANATION OF THE PARTS OF THE EUCHARISTIC CELEBRATION A weekly continuation for your information LITURGY OF THE CONCLUSION The Recessional: The Recessional returns to the entrance of the Church building, walking through the community. This represents the fact that members of the community who were called forward to minister during the Eucharist now return to the community because they are part of the community and not above the community. The Recessional also signifies that we leave the table of the Lord to go out into the world and spread the Good News. At Eucharist, all are commissioned to go forth and minister in the vineyard of the Lord. This will conclude the Explanation of the Eucharistic Celebration.
